Day 4 became a travel day of sorts. We were slated to have a clinic at CrossFit Amundson in Santa Cruz, Calif, however, the tragic death of Sergeant Scott Lunger affected the community so deeply, we opted to cancel. Sergeant Lunger was killed while on duty, and leaves two young daughters behind.

As a result, we traveled north around midday making a stop in San Luis Obispo to train at Bill Grundler’s gym, CrossFit Inferno. Rob designed a long workout to trudge through that looked like this:

Complete 20 rounds for time of:

1 Rack Thruster

5 Strict Pull Ups

Odd: 40 Double Unders/ Even: 10 Burpees

Rob used 265lbs on the thruster, while I used 225. He still crushed me. After our long workout, we headed up to Paso Robles to meet Bill for dinner. This meal was one of my favorite moments of the trip so far. Being able to sit there and listen to two original CrossFit legends give their thoughts on the 2015 Games, the history of CrossFit, and the changes we’ve seen.

I’m going to bed feeling like a lucky guy!
